After working in the film & television industry as a Film and TV Production Manager I became pregnant with my first daughter Georgia & began attending Yogabirth Pregnancy classes. During that period I began to understand that there was much valuable information to be had in order to make my choices around place of birth and choice of caregiver. I booked with a small birth unit in North London & had a waterbirth. I found the preparation gained from the Yogabirth Pregnancy classes & Active Birth workshops allowed me to remain calm, centred & relaxed throughout. My husband also benefited from understanding the birth process & from knowing how to be of help.
I re-trained as a Childbirth Educator & Active Birth Teacher at the Active Birth Centre ahead of moving to Sheffield where I gave birth to my second daughter Sophie at home 'on land'!.
Throughout 18 years of teaching and attending births as a Birth Doula I have gained a broad experience of working alongside pregnant women, their partners & babies. I have also taught medical students, student midwives & midwives.
Qualified in the Hakomi method, blending science, spirituality & psychotherapy and in the Internal Family Systems Method (Levels 1, 2 & 3) which is a psychotherapy particularly useful for healing trauma I am now studying at the Metanoia Insititute in London for a Diploma in Humanistic Counselling and Psychotherapy.
